The Role of Integrations in Weave
Why This Matters
Before you can build, you need to understand why you're building. Every patient name, appointment slot, and phone number visible in the Weave UI was placed there by the Integrations team. This lesson anchors your purpose.
What You'll Learn
- What the Weave NWX portal is and what it shows customers (patients, appointments, schedule)
- What a Practice Management System (PMS) is and why customers already use one before Weave
- The primary role of the Integrations team: keeping PMS data and Weave data synchronized
- A live demo comparison: the same data in OpenDental (PMS) and the corresponding Weave office
- How time zones affect data display in Weave vs. the PMS

Lesson Summary
Weave's NWX portal shows patients, appointments, and schedules to office staff. But Weave doesn't originate this data — customers already had it in their Practice Management System (PMS) before adopting Weave. The Integrations team's core mission is to ensure the data in the PMS is always reflected accurately in Weave. A live comparison between OpenDental (a PMS) and its corresponding Weave office confirms this: the same patients and the same October 28th appointment exist in both systems, with only the timezone offset differing.
