Type 3 Integration Implementation

Module Overview

This module covers the implementation of Type 3 integration features in Weave's SyncApp, including recalls, insurance, appointment confirmations, status mapping, push types, and account/aging data flows. Engineers work through the specific RPC methods, sync strategies, and data derivation patterns that distinguish Type 3 from lower integration tiers.

Why This Module Matters

Type 3 integrations unlock critical clinical and financial features — recall reminders, auto-confirmation, insurance, and aging — that offices depend on for revenue cycle management and patient retention. Getting the sync logic wrong for these entities causes missed reminders, stale financial data, and broken appointment workflows at scale.

Learning Goals

• Explain the two-year lookback window used in recall sync and distinguish when a full sync versus partial sync is triggered
• Implement the appointment status map generation from office-level configuration and map PMS statuses to Weave statuses correctly
• Describe the push type mechanism and identify why GetAppointmentNewStatuses is always fetched in full rather than filtered by time
• Explain how accounts are derived from aging data in Open Dental Cloud and why no dedicated account sync exists in that environment
